I'm new here!
Need a little more information about who we are and what we do?
We are your favourite artists’ favourite mixing & mastering house. Each year, multiple projects we work on receive BRIT, Mercury, MOBO and Grammy recognition.
Metropolis Studios has been operating since 1989, consistently producing the highest quality of mixing and mastering sonics in the industry. We have put our stamp on some of the most important music of the last forty years – from the likes of George Michael, Amy Winehouse, Massive Attack and The Verve to Stormzy, Kendrick Lamar, Travis Scott, Ed Sheeran, RAYE, Charli XCX and Adele.
Mastering Explained
The primary role of mastering is to present the mix to the world in the best possible light, whatever the final medium – whether it be tape, vinyl, CD, radio or streaming.
Mixing from A to Z
Balance & Levels
The foundation of every great mix. Adjusting volume levels ensures each instrument and vocal sits correctly, with clarity and intention.
EQ (Equalisation)
Used to shape the tonal balance of each sound, removing unwanted frequencies and enhancing what matters most.
Dynamics (Compression)
Controls the energy and consistency of your track, tightening performances and adding punch, depth, or smoothness where needed.
Mixing from A to Z
Stereo Image
Positioning elements across the left-right spectrum to create width, space, and separation.
Effects & Space
Reverb, delay, and modulation effects add depth and atmosphere, placing your sounds in a defined environment.
Automation
Fine-tuning changes over time, bringing movement, emotion, and dynamics to your mix.
Mixing from A to Z
Mix Bus Processing
Subtle processing applied to the overall mix to glue everything together and enhance cohesion.
Final Mix Export
Your completed mix is delivered as a high-quality WAV file (typically 24-bit), ready for mastering.
